A brief summary of the story:

A first-grade boy, Dave Clark, who lost the use of his legs to Polio and walks with heavy braces and crutches is riddled with anxiety when his teacher announces a walking field trip to the local fire station that is several blocks away. Young Dave Clark never forgot the act of kindness of his classmate, “Ernie Pound”, who brought his Radio Flyer Wagon to school to pull Dave.

Dave Clark, after an amazing career where he played, coached and/or scouted at every level of professional baseball from crutches, made sure to thank Ernie Pound for his kindness. They reconnected for the first time in Fifty years at a book signing where the emotions swelled with tears of joy.

Dave Clark Quote

“You may never know the weight that a small act of kindness can have on a person’s life”
